To promote Gurian winemaking and produce high-quality wines, KTW Group established Chateau Askana in 2021. At Chateau Askana, wine is produced using the European method, while sparkling wine is crafted using the traditional method and aged in oak barrels.
At Chateau Askana, wine is made from exceptional grape varieties sourced from both Guria and other regions of Georgia. In Guria: Sakmiela, Tsolikouri, and Chkhaveri. In Imereti: Tsolikouri and Krakhuna. In Racha-Lechkhumi: Tsolikouri. In Adjara: Chkhaveri. It’s worth noting that the Chkhaveri grape variety is used to produce both white and rosé wines.
At the chateau, sparkling wine is aged for a minimum of 1.5–2 years and up to a maximum of 4–5 years. Still wine, on the other hand, is produced over a period of 6–7 months.
During the harvest season, Chateau Askana processes between 100 and 1,200 tons of grapes.
