About the Company

The qvevri is the first vessel ever used in winemaking. Archaeological research has confirmed its 8,000-year history and the centuries-old tradition of fermenting wine within it. In 2013 UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) granted this most ancient traditional method of winemaking the status of intangible cultural heritage. Our company is proud that KTW Group's qvevri Saperavi wine is presented in the tasting hall of the museum of wine civilisation (La Cité du Vin) in Bordeaux, France.

Today „Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking“ is one of the largest producers of wine and spirits in Georgia, employing more than 2,500 people. „Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking“ owns 8 wine and spirits store-salons, 3 wine and spirits plants, 2 fruit, vegetable and honey processing plants, 3 restaurants, a hotel and a chateau. In spirits production the company's capacity runs to 10,000 tonnes of wine material a year and 20,000 tonnes of spirit material for producing brandy.

KTW group-ის დამფუძნებელი

„You could say my whole life has been bound up with the grape and with wine. In our family, the culture of the vine and the cult of Georgian wine held an important place from the very beginning. It was probably that above all which led me to decide to make my own contribution to the development of Georgian winemaking. In 2001, when I founded the company „Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking“ and was still a young winemaker, what filled me with delight and excitement were the boundless possibilities, tastes and aromas of the Georgian vine, which I felt each time a new variety was pressed - and it continues that way to this day.

The company „Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking“ has travelled a long and rewarding road, and over that time KTW Group has achieved the status of a holding company. I am proud that KTW Group employs more than 2,500 people, who within their own fields create the trustworthy values that „Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking“ stands for. Our group is oriented towards quality and towards the balance between Georgian tradition and modern technology, so that above all we keep faith with our customers, offer them something new again and again, and preserve the Georgian spirit in every one of our products“

A century later, in 2001, Antimoz's great-grandson Zurab Chkhaidze carried on his great-grandfather's legacy with fresh strength and energy and established the company „Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking“. Through tireless work and constant development since then, „Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking“ has become the largest wine producer on the Georgian market, with sales covering more than 30 countries worldwide and a leading position among the largest exporters.

A new generation leads the company successfully to this day and carries on the family's winemaking tradition. Zurab's elder son, Aleksandre, holds the position of head of the company's strategy and development department.
