To promote Gurian winemaking and produce high-quality wine, KTW Group built Chateau Askana in 2021. At Chateau Askana wine is produced by the European method, and sparkling wine by the classic method, aged in oak casks.
At Chateau Askana the wine is made from distinctive grape varieties harvested both in Guria and in other regions of Georgia: Guria - Sakmiela, Tsolikouri and Chkhaveri. Imereti - Tsolikouri and Krakhuna. Racha-Lechkhumi - Tsolikouri. Adjara - Chkhaveri. It should be noted that both white and rosé wine are produced from the Chkhaveri grape variety.
At the chateau, sparkling wine is aged for a minimum of 1.5-2 years and a maximum of 4-5 years. Still wine is produced over a period of 6-7 months.
Over the course of the harvest, the Chateau Askana plant processes 100-1,200 tonnes of grapes.
